Galia Edwards
MBACP (Accred)
Hello
Hello
My name is Galia Edwards, and I am a qualified counsellor and psychotherapist holding a BA (Hones) degree in Person-Centred Counselling and Psychotherapy.
I am an experienced therapist with over 13 years of practice, working across a variety of settings. Alongside my private practice I currently work as a High Intensity Therapist within NHS Talking Therapies, supporting individuals experiencing depression, low mood, trauma, and other complex emotional difficulties.
My previous experience includes working as a school counsellor, as a student counsellor at Warrick University, as counsellor within a domestic violence service, and at a family planning centre, where I supported people facing a wide range of personal and relational challenges.
These roles have broadened my skills and strengthened my ability to work sensitively with people from diverse backgrounds and life experiences.
My interest in human nature began at a young age. I have always been fascinated by the connection between body, mind, and emotions, and how our life experiences shape the way we see ourselves and the world. My own life challenges — the “touchstones” of my existence — have not only shaped who I am today but have deepened my empathy and strengthened my ability to connect with clients on a meaningful level.
I feel privileged to work alongside individuals and couples who, despite their pain, find the courage to seek support and create change. I see therapy as a journey of self-discovery — sometimes challenging, sometimes uncomfortable — but ultimately empowering and transformative.

Qualifications and Training
I am an accredited member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). Accreditation means that I meet the BACP’s high standards for training, experience, and ethical practice. For clients, this provides reassurance that therapy is delivered safely, professionally, and with accountability, so you can focus on your journey with confidence. To support this, I undertake at least 30 hours of continuing professional development (CPD) training each year, ensuring my skills remain up to date and that I continue to provide the best possible support to my clients.
